And finally, to complete my look, here’s my beanie with the mandatory pom pom. I love the texture of the wool but, this is rather sedate compared to what was out there this season. People were wearing all kinds of funky head wear. There were even helmets with fluro orange and pink mohawks. Not quite my look but it’s that kind of thing that makes the snow fun. In fact, I nearly had an accident when I noticed a fab outfit on my way down the slope.
Here’s the back of my ski jacket. It’s down filled and super warm. Like all great snow jackets it has lots of secret compartments full of things like a bottle opener and a chamois for your goggles. Great iPod / iPhone pocket with headphone access too. I really love all my snow gear in case you can’t tell. 😉
I love these ski pants. They’re a little to big for me but I don’t mind, I always feel happy whenever I put them on. Also, I can easily fit two or three layers of thermals underneath and and I’ve got a great belt to cinch them in at the waist. I love the lace up back and all the pockets. Great for sunscreen, credit card, ID, trail maps, lip balm, water bottle…. You get the idea.
With Alex, Mike and Naomi at Turoa. Hottest trends on the mountain this year are either a helmet with a camera attached to record your run or a beanie with a pom-pom. There are waaay more pom-poms this year than last.
Sunny. Fresh snow. Barely anyone else on the mountain. What more can you ask for?
I just got back from a few days away at the snow. I had a great time but found it a bit hard to post while I was away so I’ll upload a few pics now. Got an afternoon of skiing in on the first day. Unfortunately rain the night before washed a lot of snow away. As you can see from the pic it’s a bit patchy. But, I had a blast anyway. So much fun you don’t even realise you’re exercising.
