Relax your mind
Image
I just got this in the mail. Amis is one of my favourite authors and I’m totally obsessed with Peter Mendelsund’s cover. It seems so indulgent to curl up with a book, I’m going to start going to bed a bit earlier so I can fit it in.
Spa Chic

I got this in the mail the other day from L’urv. Warm and fleecy with really great mitten cuffs. So nice in winter when the weather’s a little chilly, I’ve been wearing it walking and running and it’s been great.

Worked up a sweat today.
Lunch
John Amek’s Ghanaian-Style Quinoa Salad from Kylie Kwong’s book “It Tastes Better” with 100g chicken breast. Yum and not a drop of oil, recipe below.
Ingredients
1 cup red quinoa
2 cups of water
Pinch of salt flakes
1/2 cup shelled fresh or frozen peas
1 small ripe tomato, diced
1 small cucumber, diced
6 black olives, pitted & sliced
1/2 bunch of chives, chopped
1 bunch flat-leaf parsley, leaves picked & chopped
1 sprig thyme, leaves picked
1 sprig marjoram, leaves picked
1 tablespoon of tamari sauce
Juice of 2 lemons
Method
Place quinoa in a sieve and rinse thoroughly under cold running water. Drain well. Place in a medium sized pan wih the water and salt. Bring to the boil, then reduce to a simmer, cover and cook for about 15 minutes or until all the water is absorbed. When cooked, the quinoa grains appear translucent and their germ ring becomes visible. Spread quinoa on to a large plate to cool. Meanwhile, blanch peas for one minute in a pan of boiling water, drain and refresh under cold running water. Combine quinoa, peas and remaining ingredients in a large bowl, mix well and serve.

Street Art
I enjoy spotting this artwork at Wynyard Quarter when I do my Tuesday run. These buoys are everywhere down there and I like the reminder that I’m running on reclaimed land.
Breakfast

The first strawberries of the season from Queensland. Perfect with some organic honey yoghurt followed by a run.
Lunch

Kylie Kwong’s Dry-Fried Cauliflower with Chickpeas, Pickled Green Chillies and Xinjiang Spices.
I’ve been trying to eat more Cruciferous vegetables lately. Obviously being vegetables they’re going to be good for you but, there are a lot of articles suggesting they specifically help reduce a range of cancers, most notably; colorectum, lung, prostate and breast. And, after eating this dish I can confirm that they’re good for your tastebuds too. 😉
