A day at the spa

For 7.50 quid, I had the experience of getting my feet nibbled at by fish…probably not the best idea with my feet being so ticklish

This is a cute video that I took of my hubby, giving our dog Louie a doggy massage! Louie has a really laid back personality; so, this made it all the funnier! My husband trains people…so, why not our doggy! LOL!

But pandas in this Zhejiang Province zoo wouldn’t dream of it. They’re kept in air-conditioned comfort, even while their overheated visitors snap pictures. It’s not just that pandas are rare and precious–they’ve also got different physiological needs. [Wu Yiqiu, Deputy Director, Anji Bamboo Garden]: “Unlike human beings, pandas don’t have sweat glands. So they can’t stay outside when the temperature is higher than 26 degree Celsius.” This inability to sweat means zookeepers also have to shower the pandas three times a day, to keep their body temperature down. Besides keeping the pandas comfortable, there’s a real danger of heatstroke. Steamy Zhejiang is far from the misty bamboo forests of central China, where the animals hail from. So a bit of air-conditioning, a spa treatment, and chilled fruit can keep the pandas healthy, and a bit less homesick.

DUNCAN – It is a spa treatment that’s been offered for hundreds of years as far away as Turkey and Asia. But when a woman on Vancouver Island decided to open her own fish spa here, she found herself in hot water. The Vancouver Island Health Authority says the Purple Orchid’s fish spa is not safe, and now hundreds of customers need to find another form of therapy. VIHA says bacteria can be transferred from one person to another through the fish, after it eats the dead skin from one person’s feet and then another.
